Perfect Fun for your Pirate!

The Best Resorts for a Pirate

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is perfect for pirate fanatics! Everything from rooms, to the food court, to the pool is pirate themed. Young pirates will love going for a swim in the pool that features a pirate ship splash zone. But the ultimate is the Pirate Themed Rooms with pirate ship beds!  Your little pirates will be eager to climb aboard these beds after a long day at the parks!

Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club Resorts are also great pirate options. These are deluxe resorts but are well worth it! Both hotels share a pool area complete with a sandy beach and a pirate ship slide. Everyone is sure to enjoy their stay at these resorts!

Attractions and Shows

Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial is in Adventureland right next to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride. Jack Sparrow and his best mate Mack show you all the ins and outs of being a pirate in this 20 minute show. Some audience members are even invited to participate in a sword fight. If you miss a showing, it’s okay because there are multiple shows throughout the day.

Parades are a great way to spot a pirate. While they are not pirate themed Captain Hook and his crew do make an appearance. A Dream Come True during the afternoon and the Main Street Electrical Parade during the evening are great times to see a pirate on Main Street. They will be just in front of Peter Pan’s float.

Pirates of the Caribbean is a must-do ride that was created before the movies were even made (shocker)! Sail through calm waters as you immerse yourself in pirate life. The ride has even added Jack Sparrow to the cast for a perfect pirate experience. Be sure to remember that this ride can be a little scary for younger riders.

Peter Pan is a great ride for any aged pirate! Climb into a pirate ship and hold on tight as you make your way through one of the greatest Disney stories ever told. You’ll feel as if you’re flying as you sail past Captain Hook, Peter Pan and other beloved characters. This ride is very popular so be sure to get a fastpass because it will fill up before lunch!

A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas This new interactive quest makes you Captain Jack’s pirate recruits.  Your mission varies depending on which of the five pirate raids you are given.  Equipped with with magic talismans and treasure maps, your task is to follow the clues and prove your pirate worth by collecting valuable treasures.  Just another way Disney makes you part of the story!

Disney Junior - Live on Stage! If you have a pint-sized pirate you definitely want to see Jake and the Neverland Pirates in Hollywood Studios at this fun show!  This fun interactive show is filled with favorite Disney Jr. stars!  There are also many opportunities to meet Jake in the Animation Courtyard and at the Hollywood & Vine Play ‘n Dine character meal!

Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow also in Hollywood Studios, this eight-minute show is a stand-and-watch show with some great effects!  On a sound-stage the technology used is amazing.  You feel like you are actually watching Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones and a gang of skeletons as they interact.  Definitely a must-do for fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise!

Other Fun Pirate Activities

The Pirates League is located in Adventureland and turns every pirate wannabe into a real pirate! Much like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, this is a pirate make over complete with bandana, hook, and eye patch. Each child is sworn in as a pirate after the makeover is complete, making them a true pirate. This does cost extra, but makes a great pirating experience.

Also consider pirate cruises at Disney World including Albatross Treasure, Bayou Pirate, and the Pirate Adventure. Kids (4-12 only) climb on board clad in bandanas and search for treasure. These cruises last about 2 hours each, and the price is approximately $36. Be sure to make a reservation before leaving for the trip.

Pirates and Pals Firework Cruise – Of course, Disney has pirates on Seven Sea’s Lagoon!  Take this moonlit cruise from the Contemporary Resort.  Start with light refreshments and then meet your favorite bad guys Captain Hook and Mr. Smee before embarking on your voyage.  Once onboard you will play games and have fun with your motley crew.  The evening culminates with views of the Electrical Water Pageant followed by the Wishes fireworks display from the Magic Kingdom.  When the show is over, you'll return to the boat dock -  to find Peter Pan himself waiting to greet you!  This is another great opportunity for pictures and autographs.

Me Pirate Adventure from Disney Florist is your own amazing scavenger hunt in search of Jack Sparrow’s treasure. It is a pricey option (at $395), but makes the ultimate pirate experience! When you arrive at the room a banner is on the door letting you know Jack himself was there. In the room he leaves a skull and a note giving you instructions on how to find his treasure. This scavenger hunt is a great family bonding experience!

Hollywood & Vine Play ‘n Dine is the only character meal with a pirate presence.  This meal in Hollywood Studios features Disney Jr. characters including Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  This is always a favorite for the preschool pirates!
